In 1,000–1,200 words, create a paper that synthesizes a biblical theology of repentance and forgiveness with strategies to increase repentance and forgiveness in conflict (in light of the example conflict you will provide). In order to do this, your paper will have three parts: In the first part, create a biblical theology of repentance and forgiveness. Areas you may want to cover include: What is the meaning of “repentance” and “forgiveness” in biblical context (and does this differ from our 21st century US expectations)? What are repentance and forgiveness themes found throughout Scripture? What are key examples of repentance and/or forgiveness that may be illustrative of repentance and/or forgiveness for us today? In the second part, identify a conflict that you are currently a part of, or if not, one in the past that is still unreconciled in some way, or if not, one in the past that has had a major impact on you personally. Briefly explain the gist of this conflict, and then develop a strategy to resolve and reconcile this conflict, with special emphasis on repentance and forgiveness. Two suggestions: First, to create these strategies, synthesize ideas from your biblical theology that you developed in the first part. Second, use the Prepare section from pages 227–28 of The Peacemaker to develop a plan by which you may try to bring about reconciliation in the example conflict you have provided. (Make sure this plan is concrete, specific, step-by step as the concluding part of your paper.) Your final product will be in a Microsoft Word document. Utilize at least ten sources from professional and academic literature in your research. Professional and academic literature may include peer-reviewed journals from the South University Online Library; relevant textbooks; professional and academic books or monographs published by established academic and professional publishers. Interaction with relevant biblical texts is expected, and a key part of your grade for this assignment. Also critical to your grade is your ability to synthesize the biblical and the practical. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and formatted correctly in Turabian style with cover page and bibliography.
