INSTRUCTIONS
Choose a geographic topic that interests you. Ponder how your argument for this research topic
falls into place, fits within the field of geography, and can realistically be finished in the time
allotted. Make certain that you first carefully complete all Learn items for this module.
As you choose your topic, do the following at specific points in the proposal narrative.
Remember, you are writing an essay but be sure to include headers for each section. You may
include sub-headings as needed.
1. Introduction – Describe an idea for a geographic research project that you could realistically
undertake in the next two months.
2. Worldview – Explain how your creation worldview or your naturalistic worldview influenced
your topic selection and how your worldview may influence any data collection.
3. Geographic Field – Denote whether the project falls under the broad categories of physical or
human geography or contains a combination of both.
4. Rationale – Explain why you think this is a worthy project to undertake.
5. References – Include at least two (2) scholarly sources. Does not count toward minimum
word count.
Make certain that you use correct grammar and formatting in the APA style, using Times New
Roman 12-point font with 1-inch margins, and at least 400 words.
Include a cover page and a references page, which do not count towards the minimum number of
words.
